Dark Shadows Take 3

I'm out from underneath the avalanche of academic obligations which were threatening my sanity and ready to get back to the business of soaps! But you should be warned.....

I think this post should come with a massive squee warning because right now I'm in full fangirl mode. In the haze of my snowapocalypse food coma, I stumbled across a report that the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton remake of Dark Shaows has started filming. Holy hell Batgirl, Christmas has done come early!

You know those uber fans/borderline wackos who line up to see Star Wars like three weeks before the film is to drop? I can totally see myself doing that for this film. I am ridiculously excited to see the Dark Shadows universe through the somewhat twisted vision of Tim Burton. I have been a total convert to the series ever since the early 90s when the Sci Fi network reaired the original. It was the most bizarre thing I had ever seen. The show was set up to be a traditional daytime serial but it had zombies! and werewolves! and parallel universes! and the most fabulous vampire to ever roam the night! Seriously, forget the Edward hype. Barnabas Collins is really where it's at. It was all so delightfully over the top and wonderful that it is no wonder it has become such a cult classic.

And the fact that my favorite daytime actor ever, Chris Berau, played Phillip Todd makes it even more delicious. Seriously, look at this man.

Would anyone really mind a couple of fang marks from him? I think not. There is a great article posted over at GLMP about Bernau’s experience working on and is a definite must read. So go check it out!
