Welcome!

When I first moved to South Carolina in the fifth grade, I made friends with a girl named Jessi whose mother was a rabid DOOL fan. Specifically, she was in to all things Patch and Kayla. I used to love going over to her house and watching with her because her enthusiasm was contagious. It was during one such visit that I noticed a magazine on Jessi's bed with Patch and Kayla on the cover. I don't think I can express in words how much it BLEW my preteen mind that there were magazines about the soaps. Best of all they were glossy, colorful and, it being the era of the supercouple, chock full of drool worthy photo goodness. I went home that night and begged to go to the bookstore where I stocked up accordingly. Thus began a bit of a magazine collecting addiction. Soap Opera Update, Soap Opera Digest, Episodes- I had them all.

This bi-weekly series will highlight magazines from my collection. Lets start things off with an article about the inimitable and future press shy Beverlee McKinsey that appeared in the August 1973 Afternoon TV.
